Antonis Pantazis, Consultant Cardiologist at the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals North Middlesex University Hospital in London, UK, Chairperson of European Society Cardiology (ESC) Working Group on Myocardial Pericardial Diseases, provided an expert insight into various aspects obstructive hypertonic cardiomyopathy (HCM) during EMJ- conducted podcast. Pantazis opened podcast by providing a definition HCM describing this clinical condition, discussing typical symptoms diagnostic tests that can be performed. then explained demographics those diagnosed with HCM, followed treatment options currently available, aims limitations these being described. presented case study female patient who was following their sister’s diagnosis. They were initially reluctant to have surgery but changed mindset as progressed became increasingly life-limiting. The concluded lifestyle recommendations for patients including type intensity exercise prescription.
